FutureTPM consortium members recently had the opportunity to present their work before the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).

It is quite an achievement for the project to receive recognition from TCG. TCG is an organization formed to develop, define and promote open, vendor-neutral, global industry standards, supportive of a hardware-based root of trust, for interoperable trusted computing platforms. TCG develops specifications for Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs). Why is TCG interested in FutureTPM? Because FutureTPM partners have designed and implemented Quantum-Resistant (QR) versions of their cryptographic algorithms. The FutureTPM consortium is well poised to speak of their experiences and, in this way, can offer valuable insights into the future of secure computing.
With over 50 participants, the conference call was kicked of with general information from FutureTPM Technical Lead, Liqun Chen from the University of Surrey. Luís Fiolhais from INESC-ID followed up with Implementation of QR Primitives in a software-based TPM. Thomas Pöppelmann from Infineon wrapped up with his presentation, on FutureTPM hardware-based TPM implementation.
Liqun Chen says “FutureTPM partners will stay in close contact with the TCG to share knowledge and to offer updates about their QR algorithms”. She went on to stress the value of alignment between the two organizations: “This relationship between FutureTPM and TCG is important because we have mutual interests, our research can get good input from TCG and our results will contribute to TCG’s activities.”
